Dread Bass
Not really a build diary i guess but what the hey. I have just ordered new black hardware for my corvette standard 6 as i think the chrome looks cheap and tacky and the black will look more classy. i have ordered new: bridge 2 piece 6 machine heads new black knobs and new strap lock ends. total including shipping 130 euro i will update when i get the parts. here is a pic of the bass in its current state. budget bassist
Sounds cool, if you like it that way, i actually think chrome looks a lot less tacky than black and i'm thinking of making my tobias all chrome
Dread Bass
I think it depends on the bass maybe. For this bass with dark wood i def think black is the way to go. Interested to see what others think.
budget bassist
it's pretty subjective i guess, i'm just not a huge fan of black hardware, but thats just me
Brave Sir Robin
I think it will look better. I was thinking of the same mod myself. Then I got lazy. Works well with my ACG (walnut). The Burpster
ALL black hardware looks great I love it..... What I dont like is makers that mix bits of chrome and black or mix any colors for that matter (even my PRSs suffer that from new... ) IMHO I cant wait to see your 'vette pimped.... I must say I did have a chuckle to myself when I saw the title, for a second I was expecting a 1967 drophead chrome bumper Corvette stingray.... I'm thinking about a new bridge, tuners, nut, knobs and a pickguard. Any help? Zach

Dread Bass
Thanks for the positve comments i too am looking forward to this. I will keep this updated and do like a photo diary thing like has been done in the past. ive always been a big fan of black hardware but i realised the other day not one of my 8 basses or 2 guitars have it. Veils
I'd agree with you totally buddy. I think black hardware looks much better and for some reason, chrome on a Wick does give it a cheap and tacky feel.
warwickhunt
I've got to say that 130 euro for a complete overhaul of your hardware is pretty damn reasonable, especially as the tuners etc are pretty high quality units and you are talking a 6 string! Resell the bits you take off and it'll not have cost a lot to give you the look you want. Oh and I agree the black will look classy on the dark wood. Dread Bass
yeah i think its great value tbh as its a two piece bridge and everything. When you think about how much a badass bridge costs £50 for a 4 string one and this 2 piece bridge only costs 62 euro for a 6 string thats pretty dam good. The warwick tuners are good i agree i think they ended up being just over 40 euro for 6. I think they are just as good as my groover tuners on my fretless and they would have been more expensive. I will either sell on the hardware or keep it for a project anyone interested in it?
thedontcarebear
Warwick hardware is really cheap on Thomann, I think it's awesome value.

thedontcarebear
Yeah, checked it out when you said about it before, looks cheap, I have no Warwick at the moment though.
Brave Sir Robin
I've used their online shop. Easy to deal with, came to me relatively quick. Looked like they were just picked up from the shop Each part came in their own plastic bags, and with a return form.
