Discussion on the bass here with innards photos.

Quote from a massively respected Fender expert who is a member here. (If the gentleman concerned sees this and would like me to remove it, I'm happy to do so. Was VERY grateful for his help!).

QUOTE
"It all looks legit to me. The made in USA stamp came in 1976 when the logo changed, some of the early 76xxxx serial numbers have it too (before they became S7xxxx). The gloss neck and clean hardware is so typical of that era, many folks get very suspicious with the late 70's gear because it ages so well!

Looks like a lovely slapper that one"
END QUOTE.

IT'S 9LB 1OZ :o
When I got the bass it had no case, I'm including a Fender badged Hiscox.
Just been fully set up, electrics cleaned, truss rod/neck checked, new D'Addarios by Richie Tomson, Tomson Guitars, Wigan.
ISSUES.
Case is not original.
Pick up routs look like they have been done by Shaun The Sheep but Richie assures me it's all under the finish an "is not unusual on a late 70's Fender"

Reason for moving it on.
I have just joined a show group, who I thought were way out of my league, but having drugged their drinks, I passed the audition.
I've been told no backline on stage.
I've been told they would "like" me to get a period correct 1950's style Precision.
When I know the full circumstances I might sell quite a bit of backline and withdraw this lovely bass.

TRADES
I am looking for an American Vintage 57 Reissue Precision, plus £700 to me.
or
A Mexican Road Worn Series 50'sFender Precision plus £1000 to me.
I would far prefer either of those to a sale.
I would also far prefer a meet up, and I'm happy to drive a good distance to facillitate that.
Any trial in Wigan.
Please be aware that once I know EXACTLY how I stand regarding backline etc, there may be amps and cabs come up to fund a 50's Precision of some kind.
Cheers,
Karl.

I'm cool with that thanks Karl, you didn't print the bromance bits so I reckon we're alright ;)

As for 'expert', perhaps not. But experienced and always learning, somewhat :)

For many years I've wanted a YOB ones of these, this exact spec. If only I was one year younger and a bit richer.

(Edit- I mean one year older...when was I born?)

GLWTS pal.

Many thanks guys :) .

All further PM's replied.

Closest at the moment is an AV58RI but he needs to raise the difference, so still currently available.

I have just seen something which is just the right amount of cheese for what I'm going to be doing (but it will need a gold plate) so a sale would be good as well :D
Cheers,
Karl.

This bass may soon be going to a world famous London guitar store, in the abscence of confirmed trade or sale offers on here.

The store asked for some extra photos, so I thought I might as well share them here :) .

Further pm's replied to.

Very tempted by a staggeringly good looking R*** 4004, (on Facebook!) long hard think about that.
Also a fabulously stunning modified 79 Precision.
I would personally value those at £1400 and £1000 respectively

Sadly, I need to put a valuation against my 77 Jazz, which seems to be pretty much original and un-modified. A rare beast indeed.
So, please folks, if you are looking to trade, keep that in mind.
Still waiting for a shop to get back to me re the pick up winding photos he asked for.

I did have one tentative cash offer but that didn't come to fruition.

:P

Pretty much last orders folks.
Any more interest?

If nothing else happens I'm likely to take an offer from a well known London guitar/bass emporium tomorrow.
Cheers,
Karl.
