skidder652003
So our old Peavey subs have died with the lovely stench of plastic burning the nostrils. They were a bit crap anyway and we have decided we only want one new active sub. The budget is £400, preferably new, preferably 15 or 18". Anyone have experience of something in this price range that can still deliver the chest thump? Just for bass drum and bass. Thomman have quite a lot of choice but I haven't got a clue where to start. Many thanks! PS we have decent RCF active tops and monitors but the budget just won't stretch to a RCF sub. Kevin Dean
I thought the Alto 15" was excellent , I now use EV 12" for weight reasons both are impressive . The Alto was about 65lbs & 600w rms The EV 45lbs 700w rms.

Kevin Dean
i think you will find it hard to beat the Alto , I gave mine to a friend who runs a PA hire company , I saw Him yesterday & he said it's great .
EBS_freak
To echo the above, pretty much the Alto too. Wouldn't go far as saying you'd get anything that would chest thump for 400 quid though. Just setting expectations.
