Bassulike66
Hi all, This has more than likely been asked a thousand time before so apologies in advance. I have a 1985 Washburn Force series B-42 headless with red binding. The bass is somewhat road worn and weighs a ton, however, it plays beautifully and the neck profile is very jazz like. It is fitted with bridge and neck soap bar pups, both original Washburn passives, 3 way selector switch, front / back vols and tone. Is it possible / safe introduce an active circuit to the existing pups??
dannybuoy
Yup - very few basses have active pickups, they are nearly always passive pickups with an active preamp.
steve-bbb
absolutley - have two basses here with upgraded wizards and j-east's , all the wizards are passive also have a j-east in my status and have used it with both passive and active pickups the main difference being the active pups sound huge compared to the passives
Bassulike66
Cheers gents, happy days, i'd got it in my head that both parts had to be active. Looking forward to a bit of experimentation.
