bassbiscuits
One of my hard cases has been smelling a bit off lately - probably caused by a sweaty damp leather strap or such like stashed after a gig at some point in the past. My missus suggested sprinkling bicarbonate of soda in the case, leaving it for a few days and then hoovering it out. Anyone tried this, or know of any other methods worth trying? Dandelion
Your misses is right. Or try shake and vac.
Skybone
Those little sachets of silicon work a treat too
MoonBassAlpha
Do you mean silica gel?
Twincam
I had a few that stunk! A antibacterial kitchen spray works well (not the bleach bathroom types) a few sprays over a few days have worked. Bicarbonate soda in could also work as your missus suggests.

TheGreek
Leave some Cat litter in a stocking inside the case for a few days....
Ashweb
Sounds like a good excuse to get a new case to me...
Number6
I can imagine that Lemmy always did the shake n vac with his bass case maybe adding a dab of Febreze for good measure.....lol

[/quote] It may be worth mentioning that this should be fresh, unused cat litter as used litter may actually exacerbate the original problem. Paul S
Febreze works for me. Or, rather, my stinky guitar cases.

tonyquipment
Try putting a gel air freshener or a few sheets of tumble drier sheets in the case

Glad to report that four days in on the bicarb it's certainly a lot fresher. Might stick it on the decking outside if the weather stays good.
