enricogaletta
You need to develop at the same time sight reading and rhythm reading. I will suggest the best two books in my opinion, for this purpose: - SIGHT READING FOR THE BASS http://www.bassbooks.com/shopping/products/179-sight-reading-for-the-bass/?bc=no?bc=no - MODERN READING TEXT 4/4 http://www.bassbooks.com/shopping/products/297-modern-reading-text-44/?bc=no They are suitable for beginner to advance, because the way how these books are written that make them best. It's a real step by step development process. So, if you study on it gradually, without skip pages and chapters you'll become a reading machine. The other important thing about accomplish this task is perseverance, if you practice even 10 minutes every day, you can't imagine how good you'll become on reading music. If you need any other help just let me know. Cheers. Enrico
Guest bassman7755
Thanks all. Some great advice and encouragement there and loads of material to get stuck into.
Get these phone apps: https://play.google....htread&hl=en_GB https://play.google....m.wgo.bnw&hl=en They teach staff note reading and fingerboard notes respectively. Good for making use of downtime e.g. train/tube, tedious meetings at work, pretending to listen your missus drone on etc. Edited September 2, 2016 by bassman7755

gapiro
IPB files!? Not the PDFs suggested? Not helpful
For some reason the basschat forum changed them all to ipb - each one has a pdf and a mp3 , and need renaming appropriately An admin once said
For anyone else with problems, I uploaded this as a pdf, it is the Basschat website that turned it into an ipb file. Don't know why it does it and I wish it would stop but it's not up to me!
Edited September 22, 2016 by gapiro
