I have a funny story about Wishbone Ash.
Basically
I first saw them in about 1987/8 when they toured the original line up.
They had another guitarist helping, because Ted Turner hadn't learnt all the set yet.
My then G/F chatted up the said guitarist and went home with him.
They got married.
I met him years later and told him this. It's all very funny and a long time ago.
He was at last nights gig!!

It's always lovely to see him

Was it the Martin Turner WA or Andy Powell WA?

Martin Turner is not allowed to use the 'Wishbone Ash' moniker anymore. He must state that it's Martin Turner, formerly of WA etc

It was Andy Powell. Seen them a few times now. They're always very good

Cool. Last time I played a pub they wouldn't close the pool table or move it from it's position of the obvious stage. Did the Ash fair any better?

Certainly did.

Although a pub, it's a proper music venue too

Saw the original line up a few times in the 70s. As my next door neighbour and mate was. Their personal roadie. In fact, we had all their pa stored in the empty shop below our two flats.

Martin Turner, Ted Turner, Andy Powell and Steve Upton were the original line up. Ted left and was replaced by Laurie (Weissfield) who then went on to tour with Tina Turner.

All really nice guys too. Saw them again a couple of times in the 80s and they had the drummer from Family depping (Rob Townsend)

Throw down the sword one of my fave songs. A lead guitarists dream with that chord progression.

'Live Dates' does it for me - I saw them roughly around that time at the Kursaal in Southend. Has to be up there with Made in Japan, Rockin The Filmore, Strangers In The Night and Live and Dangerous for my all time favourite live album. The wah-wah pedal on the solo in The King Will Come blows me away every time even 40-odd years later.
