Happy Jack
... and it's by Letts too! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Letts-Basses-8-string-custom-fretless-multiscale-fanned-fret-bass-/322228157093?hash=item4b064b7aa5:g:kxsAAOSw0UdXsOub Don't understand at all his comments about how it's strung, but that would be the least of my problems with this thing. ambient
Nice. I'm not sure about a fretless fanned fret bass, it'd be interesting to play it. It's just strung in 4ths from a standard low E, a bit different. I'd have it with a low B up to a Bb personally. Edit, looking at the gauge of strings maybe it's tuned to E an octave lower than standard bass ? Edited August 22, 2016 by ambient
JimBobTTD
I think it is tuned F# - B - E - A - D - G - C - F# ...but down a whole step, so E - A - D (etc)
dlloyd
Yes, starting an octave below a conventional 4 string bass.
HazBeen
Double bass territory Apparently there are a few fanned fret Dingwalls too. I'd struggle on a normal 8 string fretless....
Beer of the Bass
Double bass territory
Double bass has the same low E as a standard 4-string bass guitar.
