Owen Posted August 22, 2016 Author Posted August 22, 2016 Me too. And now I am watching it. I would pay good money to be on this gig. Quote
Mykesbass Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 Waiting for it on i-player so I can listen in peace on headphones. Looking forward to it. Quote
leroybasslines Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 (edited) Is the guy on bass playing the fiesta red P the Metropole regular player? He's doing the business! Edited August 22, 2016 by leroybasslines Quote
Sibob Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 Virgin has decided that BBC 4 won't load.....so I guess I'll wait for iplayer 😒 Si Quote

Bilbo Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 Didn't rate that Richard Bona thing at all. Quote
oldbass Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Ha, on 'Stuff Like That' even the string section were groovin....very cool. I thought the whole thing was brill..though Im not sure Richard Bonas voice was really up to it. Quote
lowdown Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Stunning arrangements, top, top playing from very experienced musicians, great vocals. Shame Richard Bona was struggling vocal wise, he is normally on it. You see, get in top arrangers, experienced players and vocalists and things just work. Quote
lowdown Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 (edited) Just watched this again on iPlayer. That Orchestra really is fantastic with a terrific Rhythm section. If you have not seen the show, it really is worth a watch. Edited August 23, 2016 by lowdown Quote
Mykesbass Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 8 minutes in (including the introduction) and already it is blooming amazing!! Tight, nicely mixed, yes, rhythm section working brilliantly with the orchestra! Quote
AndyTravis Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 What did I miss, had anyone got an iplayer link? Quote

KK Jale Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 (edited) Heckuva show. I think the bassist is this guy: https://www.mo.nl/or...aram-kersbergen . Seems like a '63 P and I'd love to know his amp but it sounds pretty B15. bassace Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 The Jamie Cullum Prom the following day was good too. That guy certainly knows how to bridge the jazz , pop and rock genres. And did you see our own TheG on double bass with the Remi Harris Trio. Great playing, Mike. Quote

I didn't know the Bassist in the Remi Harris Trio was a Basschater. And, yes it was indeed great playing from him. Quote
Sibob Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 I've never heard Billy Jean sound so good!! Si Quote

kevin_lindsay Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 I've just watched the Quincy Jones set - wow!!!! Fantastic stuff (apart from the reedy voiced white bloke). Cory Henry was amazing!!! The set was so good that I'm actually 20 mins into watching it all over again! $ Quote
