MIJ / CIJ paisley Telecaster bass... gold?

Hey gang

A pal of mine has just picked up gorgeous CIJ Tele bass...strangely, it's gold, like Geddy's '68.

I've had a mooch about, and I can't find another one like it. Anyone know anything about them..?

There was a chap selling one on here, claimed it'd belonged to Steve Harris of Iron Maiden.

I've seen a couple.

And I'd bite your mates hand off for this.

(FWIW, this is a different bass - it came from the US.)

They did a short run of these in the mid 90's Michael.
Fairly sure nearly all of them stayed in the Far East.
I've come across references to them, think it was on TB or the Fender Japan forum.

Yes I've seen a few of these over the years - I have the normal pink one - I've also seen a silver one as well and a black one. If it's anything like mine it'll be a great bass - sod to set up though with thin frets but fab when done
