It says in the info for the Aria it has 4 strings, I can only see 3.

Cosmo, sort of. Bruce loosely endorsed Aria in the early 80s. He was pictured in their literature playing an SB1000.

I've just finished the JB book, 'Composing Himself'.

A great read, and certainly filled the gaps on my knowledge of his post-Cream career, of much I was unaware of his multiple projects. He did so much, just never hit that one thing again that could eclipse the popularity of Cream. A shame, as his solo work contains some superb stuff.

Fascinating read. I'd recommend listening to 'Spirit', the 3-CD BBC sessions album alongside - an education in bass playing.

I still like his EB3 tone the best, though!

I was a finger-click away from buying his own Aria from Sotheby's auction last year. Probably could have got it for £6k. Could have scraped up the money somehow. Not the worst mistake I've ever made, but high on the list.

I must admit that if I won the lottery I'd have the Warwick thumb in a flash...one of my dream basses previously owned by one of my biggest influences? No brainer.

Just been looking at the other basses for sale at The Bass Gallery and spotted an early Greg Curbow American Petite 4 going for £1000... for such a renowned luthier that seems quite reasonable!

Well, Aria did emboss his name on the truss rod cover before they gave it to him! At that price you're spending about £500 a letter...

I remember seeing the below on the telly back in the day and not really knowing much about him and being more into what ever rock was the big thing at the moment and Primus and Les Claypool being the man. But then I saw this and was totally blown away. I am no fan but the playing was totally amazing. I was converted to a Warwick fan and to have a fretless Thumb became a lifetime ambition. I still today am amazed by this video all these years later. What a rhythm section.

And I came across the below video and maybe most people have seen it but I thought it would be worth posting. To see Jack explaining the way he played it and showing technique and talking through reasons for looking at all kinds of music which then you can apply to other areas. Very inspirational I found.

If...

I had any inclination to buy a relic like one of JB's used guitars, I would lend it to a museum of rock rather than keep it in my domain. I can't say that having one would enhance my playing. I can say that it would be a boost to my ego but little else.

I might play one just to see what it felt like but the idea of using such an instrument for my own purposes would seem too much like I was trying to sit on the shoulder of a giant.

Yeah, I'm not aware of them ever doing a formal Signature model. Looks like a pretty bog standard early SB1000... but with this...

Looks like The Gallery are just parroting the Sotheby's auction literature which is also pictured... Heck of a celebrity mark up. File under memorabilia not under musical instrument!

I'm a huge Jack Bruce fan. While I would not by the thumb. I would certainly buy the Aria in a flash of I had the cash or credit spare or not. And to hell with the consequences.
