FinnDave Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Hawkwind and Gong were my musical world when I was 16. Quote
cheddatom Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 muse, totally lost track of what they're up to now Quote
Oopsdabassist Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Hmm at 16 it was close between Curved Air and Yes. Although I managed to see Curved Air more times in the mid 70's, I've always been a massive Yes fan!! Quote
seashell Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Led Zep have been my favourite band since the age of 12. Quote
bigjohn Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Yes, was GnR, but did like FnM and other bands that could easily acronymised. Quote
Dandelion Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 The Cult, The Cure, The Mission, The Sisters And The Nephilim, Bauhaus, Souxsie and Joy Division. Quote
MoonBassAlpha Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016
muse, totally lost track of what they're up to now
They tried to be Queen for a while. Quote
jacko Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 At 16 I was a huge Yes fan (55 now) and remained so until I saw them in Glasgow a few years ago with Benoit David. Lost interest completely after that gig to the point where I haven't even heard the most recent album. Quote
KevB Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 (edited) Probably ELO (more to their older material) but I was on the cusp of getting into the heavier and more progressive bands around that time too. Even then I tended to listen more retrospectively to the older bands than those that were 'relavent' at the time. However NWOBHM happened around then so rock suddenly came to the fore again. RickyV Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 The Smiths. The first album was released a couple of months after my 16th birthday and it was all I listened to for months on end. I didnt play bass then but probably plenty of 'air bass' pretending to be Andy Rourke! Quote
BassTractor Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Hehehe. Great minds not only think alike, but also simultaneously. Quote
oldbass Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 At 16 I went from Philly soul direct to J Rotten and Co...it was a great and slightly peculiar yr! Quote
