Back then I was mostly into synth pop/ electro stuff, the gamut of post punk and hip hop. Roll on another 30 years and little has changed . I think fave bands were Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Tears for Fears and Heaven 17

That would have been Depeche Mode - saw them on the Music for the Masses tour (as captured in the 101 DVD / CD) when I was 16.

I was 16 in 1984 and my favourite bands/artists were Gary Numan/Tubeway Army, Big Country, Red Guitars, The Specials.

Golly... Roddy, the singer from Idlewild, was at the same school as me. I sort of knew his sister, but not him.

Me too... and also BB King, Muddy Waters, Otis Rush, Freddy King, Howlin Wolf, John Lee Hooker... all because of the Bluesbreakers/Yardbirds/etc.

I haven't really listened to blues in a long time, but it entirely defines my playing as a guitarist, even though I play jazz most of the time.
