Recently bought a Tiny Terror 1000W as a spare - it has impedance switch on back 4ohm and 8 ohm. Silly question - but if I play into 4 ohm cab but leave amp switched to 8ohm would that reduce the 1000W to half(ish) ? Asking as I have a cab which is 600W and I'm concerned if I ever have to use it on the full 1000W.

Leave it switched to 4 ohm. It'll handle an 8 ohm load in that configuration no problem.

Yeah all good thanks, hope same with you?

Thought I'd ask the reverse of that question here rather than open a new topic: if you have it on 4ohm mode and play through an 8ohm cab, what happens? Less power? Smoke and flames? Sod all?

If the amp is set to 4Ω, then that's the MINIMUM impedance that the output stage expects to see.

Anything over that (e.g. an 8Ω cab) is fine; you'll get a reduced output from the amp, so it won't be as loud (so you'll have to boost the master volume control to compensate), but a 1000W amp should still have tons of power, even into an 8Ω cab.

No smoke or flames though. :)
