Musky Posted October 5, 2008 Share Posted October 5, 2008 The contemporary series were MIJ Fenders that were introduced in 1983. As you've probably spotted they didn't conform to the more vintage specs that Fender Japan had been knocking out, the guitars often sporting locking trems and/or humbuckers. They're usually easy to spot because of the painted headstocks, though some seem to have been produced without. A mates got a superstrat type thing and it's a very nice guitar.
