Fender Contemporary Series

Whilst looking at guitars on ebay i stubled across [url="http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=150300046019"]this[/url]. i think they did Contemporary Series basses - so its bass related! what is (or was) the contemporary series? just kinda interested cos ive never heard of it before

The contemporary series were MIJ Fenders that were introduced in 1983. As you've probably spotted they didn't conform to the more vintage specs that Fender Japan had been knocking out, the guitars often sporting locking trems and/or humbuckers. They're usually easy to spot because of the painted headstocks, though some seem to have been produced without.

A mates got a superstrat type thing and it's a very nice guitar.
