Silvia Bluejay Posted August 31, 2016 Share Posted August 31, 2016 (edited) This Chinese-made P-bass copy has had a traumatic few days while being flown around Europe on its way to London. We disassembled and put body and neck into two suitcases which got lost in transit, then finally reached us on Sunday. I have re-built the bass with no problem, but it now makes no sound. Removal of the scratchplate has revealed what looks like a detached wire starting from the jack socket. My problem, as a non Precision player, is that I can't seem to fathom where the wire should be re-soldered. Given the short length of the wire, I imagine it needs to go in/on one of the three eyelets on the pot with the capacitor. But which eyelet? There is some solder on the left eyelet, but it seems to be there to hold the capacitor, not as a residue of a failed connection. So maybe the middle eyelet? Or even the currently clean one on the right? Can any of you experts help? Since this isn't an original Fender, the wiring diagrams I have found online look a bit different. Thanks in advance Edit: I've checked again, and the free wire is actually longer than I thought! Maybe it's actually the volume pot that needs to connect to it?
