I currently use Super Compacts , but I've started putting my GR55 synth sounds etc through my rig ,would I be better off with a BB2 or maybe it wouldn't matter to much ?

I would think something like the SuperTwin could be a bit of a better fit for Synth Sounds. No idea why I think this mind you... just an inkling

I'd go for the reassurance of 2x12, as some of those synth frequencies can get brutal! Obviously it depends on how loud you plan to play.

The Super Twin handles any bass seemingly without limit, but lacks a tweeter if you want to do high freq lead synth stuff

I've used my BassStaion II at gigs through the same ABM 500/Barefaced Super Twin, and the cab certainly handles it well.

As RR says, you probably do want the extended frequency range of a tweeter.

For me the BB2 has too much low end. I had one and sold it.

I replaced it with 2 SC's and they are just right. With a synth I'd imagine that you could use a cab that will reproduce higher frequencies?

Maybe put a Super Midget on top of one of your SC's.

The thing which really pulls me toward the Big Twin, (other than it providing a hefty amount of low end!!!!) Is the wide dispersion tweeter. The clarity when I move around on stage is much improved especially as it carries some upper mid range frequencies too I understand. In terms of synth sounds - if we're talking polyphony and also all the effects that come with them, then I'd probably go with BB2's or Big Twin II. - BB2 would be great for the stereo effects if you run two amplifier channels!

If however your synth bass sounds are all just low bass range effects then maybe you won't be so fussed about the top end sparkle of a shimmer reverb, ping pong delays and rich swirling stereo flanged bass synth chords!

[/quote] I sold mine , & got two super compacts , mainly for my back , but I do prefer the sound of the compacts .

I'm trying to cut down on gear I carry , mainly for small pub gigs , anything big I'll use the Compacts just as a monitor & use the PA cross over with active subs

[/quote] We do Sledge Hammer Peter Gabriel ,For example with the brass & Horns & on top of that I use loads of octaver & compression for the bass tone , for small gigs I use one the PA amps to power the compact (no bass head), I'm thinking BB2 as the pa would sit nicely on top of that .

I'd naturally lean towards the BB2 I think. Then have a pair for bigger gigs. You also have the option of using them as PA speakers for mini gigs (they sound ace) but also, you back will thank you verses carrying one big cab. Had my funds have reached I would probably have done the same, but I could only really stretch to buying BT2 in the first instance rather than a pair of BB2's.

I experimented today & the top end going through he PA tops definitely sounds better , I may see if I can trade one of my Compacts for a midget & use that with the other compact .
