Spoombung
Here's an old photo from my student days. I bought this bass in 1982 from a shop in Canterbury. Back then acoustic basses were very rare. It had a fibre glass bowl back (like an ovation) a rosewood fretless fingerboard and a piezo pickup which sounded revoltingly scratchy. I also hated the way the bulky curve of the back of the bass made it turn over in my lap. I know there was a shop in the West End also sold these. Anyway, I don't remember what bass model was called and would quite like to know. Any ideas? Edited September 2, 2016 by Spoombung
Spoombung
Hmm, found this. It looks very similar. It's a called a Thomson. Anyone know anything about them?
kodiakblair
Years back there was a Glasgow piano and organ seller called Thomson. Early 80's they were selling Thomson branded guitars and basses. Don't remember acoustic basses but I had their P-bass and it was a great bass.Jinxed Fender for me,visited Denmark St armed with cash ,must have played 7 or 8 Fenders but they weren't giving me anything extra bar a name. 30 odd year later still never bought one. I'll ask around up here and see if anybody remembers Thomson acoustics.
