chriswareham
A while ago there was a thread about ideal cars for bass players. I mentioned that the Ford Ka seemed to have been designed on the basis of being able to get an Ampeg fridge in it. A few people expressed surprise that it was possible to get an Ampeg 8x10, two Acoustic amps, a guitar amp, a couple of basses and assorted other kit in such a small car. So here's the proof! sykilz
Agreed, I have a Ford Ka and can fit in ( with back seats folded down, but the front seat still useable!!) one 4x10, one 2x12 ( both t.c electronic BC series) two bass guitars in gig bags, a t.c bh500 amp head, bag of leads, guitar stands. And me!!
Shaggy
Impressed! always liked the styling of the original Ka too - new one is a bit fugly..... I used to get my Mesa 1516 cab plus head, bass etc in the back of a Rover 25 no problem; limiting factors for getting big cabs into small hatchbacks, apart from the obvious width of rear hatch; seem to be mainly (1) how flat you can get the rear seats and (2) height of the sill of the rear hatch relative to the boot floor Edited September 1, 2016 by Shaggy
Stylon Pilson
A few years back I sold a Peavey stack, which included two 1x15" cabs. The guy came to pick it up in a Nissan Micra. He also brought his girlfriend and a chihuahua along, for no good reason that I can think of. Somehow he managed to fit it all in, but I wouldn't be surprised if he hit a bump on the way home and popped the rear window out. S.P. FinnDave
I used to carry a home made 2x15 cab to gigs in the back of my dad's Mk1 Escort. A spanner to remove the boot lock ring (the metal loop inside the lower part of the boot) was an essential tool, as it had to be removed and replaced each time I took the cab out! Bobthedog
I sold a TCE RS212 to a guy who came to collect it in his Audi TT. I was not only suprised it fitted in the boot, but that it fitted with his other RS212 cab, amp and bass! A front seat passenger could still fit in as well
skychaserhigh
It might all fit in , but whether it's safe for the road or not is another issue...

JapanAxe
I'm a confirmed big-car driver. Here my E-class Merc swallows my PA, mini bass rig, and a drum kit, with room to spare for ordinary luggage on a recent French road trip:

drTStingray
'Back on the day' when my equipment wasn't in the band's van I used to transport it in my Mini 1275GT - it comprised an Acoustic 370 amp and lead/pedal/extraneous bits box in the boot; a Carlsboro 1 X 15 cabinet (about the size of a 4x10) on the back seat (cunningly, by placing on the front seats, rotating through 180 degrees over the front seat backs on to the back seat), and my Stingray in a hard case behind the front seats - leaving space for bassist (driver) and passenger (roadie/mate/missus variously or jointly!!). A compact set up giving ludicrous volume and definition for the period and entirely suitable for the small to medium venues. I was asked several times by people how I'd got the large cabinet on the back seat!! The Acoustic 301 cabinet - about the height of an Ampeg fridge with designed in casters and handles at the rear - for pushing along like a sack barrow was used for larger venues or additionally to the Carlsboro - extreme loudness and trouser flap - occasionally was transported with the rest of the rig in my dad's mk 1V Cortina!!
