New Bass Week/Return of an old friend...USA Peavey G basses

I've never forgiven myself for selling 2 basses.

One of them was a Peavey GV graphite necked 5 string. Made in the US and basically one of the Cirrus' with a flashy neck.

It fitted my hand perfectly, balanced, sounded great and never let me down. I sold it to Desmondpot (Trev) last year and by all accounts he was in love.

I really convinced myself that a P was all I needed. True in most senses, but I missed some traits that a trusty old P cannot match.

I started looking at modulus basses, but couldn't settle on one.

I did a little work for Geddys Nose (Simon) on a Warwick, and we talked about (amongst other things), the prices of Warwick and Modulus - and how they've risen.

He mentioned he had a Peavey G Bass and he would consider flogging it.

So I jumped on it...but it was only a 4 and I wanted a 5 too.

I tentatively messaged Trev and surprisingly he replied that the Bass hadn't seen much use since he got it as he couldn't get on with the 5 strings.

So I bought it backs

I now have 2 graphite necked Peavey basses. And they're wonderful. Should more come up for sale I'll be having them.

I've made some subtle changes.

Both now wear Gotoh GB-707 black machine heads. Nothing wrong with the originals. I just like the Gotohs.

Love them both dearly. Great, underrated basses.
