I love 'em. I've never owned one, but the fretless acoustic/electric ones with the very 'flat' body shape are ace. They can do a usable double-bass simulation if you pluck over the neck and drop the highs. Abe Labiriel seemed to like his back in the 90s.

I think Godin gear is pretty well made, but certainly the guitars for some reason don't seem to hold their value, but it does make them a very good s/h buy. I imagine the basses to be the same.

I have a Godin LR Baggs acoustibass, a fretted one in black, that I bought fairly cheaply because it is a bit scruffy and the electrics didn't work. Had the electrics sorted now and it is pretty good stuff. I rarely have occasion to use it and mostly it sits in the case but I am loath to sell it as Sod's Law dictates the day I do move it on will be the day I need a semi-acoustic for something.

I've had two LR Baggs Acoustibasses and one SD5. All brilliant basses. I don't know why they arnt as well known as other brands as they are superb instruments.

I have two 1997 BG basses a four and a five string both with emg pickups and schaller fittings
there very good basses and were pretty pricey when new, which makes them a real bargain nowadays if you can find them.
