Scooterkrzy
Hi Everyone I need some help as i am going to buy a Mark Bass Speaker 121 however am hoping this will match to My Orange Bass terror 500. Any help or advice would be gladly appreciated.
anzoid
Best place to start: http://markbass.it/p...etail.php?id=97 I have a GK MB500 running into two NY121s and the sound is pretty big and I've never found it lacking. The cabs are pretty compact and you can easily carry a pair in two hands with bass slung over your shoulder. Two will fit comfortably into the boot of my Peugeot 308 with room to spare for bass and bag 'o' bits. Only thing I'm not so keen on is the tweeter - but you can turn that right down anyway as there is a control on the side, have found them to be a bit hissy with the tweeter turned up -YMMV. They are equipped with two Speakon jacks so look like they'll be easy with the Orange, based on internet pics. Hmm, edit again: a search suggests that the Terror 500 puts out full wattage into both 4 and 8 ohm loads: https://forum.orange...php?f=3&t=54055 so one cab will probably be OK but, go easy on the volume. You'd be better off with two cabs (nice stack) and not have to worry, or find a cab that'll take the full 500 watts at 8 ohms. anzoid
So, on thinking for a few more seconds - you might be better off with the Traveler 121 Ninja - http://markbass.it/product_detail.php?id=256 - which has 800W handling.
molan
So, on thinking for a few more seconds - you might be better off with the Traveler 121 Ninja - http://markbass.it/p...tail.php?id=256 - which has 800W handling.
The Ninja is a much higher spec all round than the NY121. Bigger, goes louder, more low end, higher handling capability and much better tweeter. You can pick them up for £475 if you search around too

Scooterkrzy
so guys... I have received my Mark Bass New York 121. Unfortunately i had ordered it before my post. Otherwise i would have bought the Ninja. So i am really happy with the sound compared to my old Marshall MB210 combo. I went easy on the volume and may buy another cab as well so i dont have to worry. But the sun is fantasistic and has given me the incentive to improve my sound futher. gary mac
Glad to hear that you are happy. I'm going to move this thread to the amps/cabs forum.
anzoid
Glad you're enjoying it You won't regret saving up and buying another one - two of them working together sounds even better (and makes a rather funky looking mini stack). I got my two NY121s nearly a year ago and they've cured me of searching for the next best thing (i.e. cab GAS).
Sparky Mark
Good choice. Two NY121P and a LM3 is a brilliant and flexible set up. Sounds way bigger than it looks.
