Perry Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 My budget for a bass is about £300. Do I buy a new Squier Jazz or MiM Jazz used? Quote
bonzodog Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 I have a squier vintage modified jazz and am very happy with it. Very light too. Then again ive never owned a MIM jazz Quote
interpol52 Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 Play a few of each and then decide. The VM Jazz basses are amazing in my opinion, I have a MiM P bass (2013) and that is awesome too. With a good setup I don't think you will go wrong with either to be honest. Quote
Marvin Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 Get a Sire Marcus Miller V7, it'll knock the other two into the long grass. Quote
Cato Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 (edited) Faced with a similar choice I went for a Squier VM70s, purely because I think they are better looking than anything in the MiM range. It's a lovely bass with one of the nicest necks I've played. I did upgrade the pickups and change the bridge though, not there was much wrong with the originals, I just fancied modding the bass a bit. Edited September 12, 2016 by Cato Quote
Painy Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 (edited) Love my Squier VM Precision to bits. Always my go to gigging bass over my Fender (Chinese Modern Player rather than MIM though) Jazz. Edited September 12, 2016 by Painy Quote
ead Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 There's a very nice Squier Silver Series Jazz on here for less than your budget so not in either category! It used to be mine but I foolishly sold it and then subsequently bought another one. Quote
Roger2611 Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 I voted for the MIM jazz, I know the Squier's are excellent basses but I just think the MIM bass is a touch better, but play both and buy whichever you prefer Quote
Perry Posted September 13, 2016 Author Posted September 13, 2016 Thanks everyone for your advice 😎 Quote
PaulWarning Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 (edited) buy a second hand Squier and save some dosh, I've never bought a brand new bass you'll never get your money back ( you lose 20% VAT for start) if you don't like it Edited September 13, 2016 by PaulWarning Quote
steve-bbb Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 i have an affinity series J 2009 ish is bloody awesome Quote
Woodinblack Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Try both - I did and ended up with a CV squier. Quote
