loweringthetone
Another sanding machine massacre, but this time with the timeless quote " Anything remotely like this from Fender would be a couple of grand and its rarity will ensure it keeps its value.'' ....Yup, the value will remain low.......... spectoremg
Actually that just looks very old (and unloved).
RhysP
That is the first relic job I've ever seen that I've liked.
bartelby
At least they've gone to the trouble of doing the hardware too.

AndyTravis
If that was right handed, I'd be tempted. It's very heavy, but looks well done. The machine heads don't really fit in, for £700 I wouldn't really want to be spending out on othe machine heads.
rushbo
It looks filthy. How many basses get to this state as a result of "normal", regular playing?
Pow_22
A better relic job than the majority of Limelights ive seen!
markstuk
Is not the pickup in the wrong place for a 68?
timhiggins
No i dont get reliced.. just looks like someone sh*t on it and then buried it for a couple years....

Bassassin
It just looks disgusting. I really don't get it - can someone who likes this please help me understand the appeal of filth and squalor?
Hobbayne
As a Limelight owner myself, I think its horrible!
KingBollock
I'd be chuffed to bits to own that. If I'd found it in a skip. Then I'd strip it, repaint it, clean or replace the rest, then flog it.
Pow_22
Oops. Its not that I don't think Limelight basses are good, I just think their relicing is probably the most unconvincing ive seen
Well there's a pub I visit regularly.......but with respect to instruments I totally agree. A bass should be a thing of beauty. Thanks to everyone for the high entertainment value in this thread.......really cheered me up on a dismal Sunday evening. Clearly Im not alone in misunderstanding the attraction of relicization. tauzero
It looks more convincing than almost every other relic job I've seen. I think the concept is ridiculous though. Why spend extra money in a bid to convince the world that you're a barbarian who shouldn't be entrusted with a bass, not even a Fender? lowregisterhead
To be fair, as 'reliced' basses I've seen go, it looks, err.... comparatively 'genuine' (?) ...except because of the format it can't be, but anyone who knew that wouldn't be fooled, so who exactly would you be trying to impress? Even if it was for your own personal satisfaction, it just seems strange to me that you'd be committing copyright fraud to do it. Why not stick 'Fake' on the headstock and be done with it? In fact, in as much it's a reliced fake, it's a fake twice over. And who even knows if it plays well or sounds any good? But perhaps that's not an important consideration here. This bass has no value to retain, as far as I can see.
