Pink's just a colour.

Up until the Victorian era the word 'Girl' applied to both male and female children, blue was a female child's colour and pink was a boy's.

Really? I've not found a reference for the Victorian - best I can do is the Old English, which would be pre-Elizabethan (1400s?). Source, please?
