spectoremg
Sting. Not bad actually and a blistering version of Next To You to finish off with (the harmony guitars went a bit Lizzy there for a bit). Anyone know who the second guitarist is? Not Dominic Miller, the other one.
backwater
I think the second guitarist is Lyle Workman. Andy
wateroftyne
Nice, lively performance. Some of those BVs sounded a bit... umm... 'precise', mind.
Lozz196
Nice enough bass mix on Kings of Leon I thought.
silverfoxnik
Yep, I thought Sting was pretty good and agree with Lozz that the KOL bass was nicely up front in the mix.. Didn't rate the new songs so much though, but maybe that's because it was the first time of hearing them.. I enjoyed the Jack White interview and performances too, as well as Kandace Springs and M83. Didn't rate Banks from New York though and still don't understand why Later feels it has to include artists that are predominantly studio/sequencer based on the show?? Must be because I am an old, out of date Git!
ivansc
Stings tune(s) sounded like he ran out of ideas and sat & listened through the entire Police back catalogue for inspiration. Zzzzzzzzzzz................
Barking Spiders
Aye, I too thought Sting's stuff was just discarded outtakes from his Police days. Never cared for KoL but I liked the basslines on the tunes they played. I quite liked Banks though methinks Roisin Murphy does this kind of stuff better. molan
I thought M83 were really good. The 'Steve Vai' solo at the end was fun Liked the first KoL song but not the second. Thought Sting started OK but got a bit 'samey' very quickly
Phil Starr
I'm not a big fan of KOL but the bass did sound lovely. Actually made me think, he plays very simply but what a lovely, accurate clean sound which worked really well with their songs. Maybe time for me to clean up my playing. M83 were terrific. geoffbyrne
An awful lot of repetetive lyrics in the last show. G.

Phil Starr
An awful lot of repetetive lyrics in the last show. G.
Sadly this seems to be the current 'thing'. The interesting bit of current music is the layering when putting it together with lots of light and shade and some great rhythms, but with so much music produced in the studio lyrics seem to have taken a back seat. I'm not one of those that thinks everything was better in the 60's (insert your own teenage years here) but I do like a good song.

Cosmo Valdemar
I've only just got round to watching last week's episode. I find myself completely entranced by M83's keyboard player/singer.
toneknob
Really enjoyed this on Later Live this week. It passed the litmus test to bother with recording the Friday show as well. Kala U-Bass, right? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QDx0G1A9Z8

BottomE
Aside from the music - can you understand what Jools is saying in between songs? His diction is awful for a TV presenter. Just don't get what he says. While we're at it - same for that Dara O Brien guy. They both eat their words. Or maybe its my hearing...
