maut Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 I´m selling my 82 Precision natural bass. Compared to the 77 and 79 Fender Precisions I had, the quality of manufacturing is a lot better on this one. It seems that Fender had returned to higher standards after the not so good late 70s. The neck sits very tight in the neck pocket. The bass is 100% genuine and unmolested. The condition is very good, the natural finish on the ash body is almost perfect, there are no deep scratches or dings and dongs, the strong wood pattern is beautiful. The dark spot were the right arm rests is part of the wood grain. The finish on the neck is rather thin compared to the thick poly on the body. There are some spots where the finish is worn off on the back of the neck, so the bass has been played regularly. The frets are in very good condition, the trussrod works fine. By 1980 or 1981 they dropped the idea of ashtrays and finger rest, so there are no extra holes on the body. The pickup is still the grey bobbin one they used in the 70s, so the bass has the classic fat Fender P tone. Compared to my 73 Precision, the 82 sounds almost the same. It weighs 4,3 kg which is rather light for an ash body Precision. The price is EUR 1.500,- or the equivalent in GBP. Todays exchange rate makes it about GBP 1290. I´m located in Berlin, Germany. Pickup is very welcome, shipping is possible to the expense of the buyer. surfguy13 Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 Great listing, this is how they all should be! High quality photos and decent description. Good luck with the sale!
Presidente Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 Gorgeous!!! Does it come with its Fender late '70s molded case?
maut Posted September 18, 2016 Author Posted September 18, 2016 Sorry, I don´t have the plastic case... there would be a pic if I had it.
maut Posted September 26, 2016 Author Posted September 26, 2016 No trades please, I have other plans already.
geoff90guitar Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 Can't get my head around why they should put a 70's headstock decal on in 82. Thought it would have prefix E rather than S. Still, I've had basses with this confusion. GLWTS Geoff
