petebassist Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Most specs say 1.69 metres, but is that with the end pin set at minimum or maximum? Just checking as I'm 6 foot 1 and don't wanna be stooping over the neck, and of course there're none near where I live to try out. Any info much appreciated. Thanks, Pete Quote
Mr Bassman Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Dave Swift is the man to ask, think he had a special end pin made Quote
stingrayPete1977 Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Was Dave's about 3 foot long? He's a big fella aint he?! Quote
ikay Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Here are measurements from mine: - Length of body from top of scroll to endpin collar is 140cm - Length of uninstalled endpin is 62cm With 12cm of endpin inserted (50cm protruding) the height of the nut in playing position is 167-8cm (my eyebrow level). I'd say the max height (nut level) with the standard endpin is around 170cm. Quote
petebassist Posted September 26, 2016 Author Posted September 26, 2016 Thanks everyone for the info, very useful. I think it might be ok, will have to find my tape measure and double check. Quote
Mr Bassman Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Looks like Dave's has an extended adjustable end pin photo.php Quote

Pic of mine below (admittedly I am only 5' 9") Edited September 26, 2016 by ikay Quote
kedo Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 I have one and although I haven't measured its height, It suits my 6ft with the nut at eye level and plenty of pin left to extend. Quote
Dave Swift Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 Hi guys, hope you don't mind me joining in. I have the Yamaha SLB200 Ltd Edition, and even though the original end pin is the same as the regular model, it iwas still too short for for me. Luckily my double bass luthier, Roger Dawson, made an adjustable inner extension pin, as you can see from the photo in the link. This was crucial for me, because not only am I 6' 3" I also stand on my Porter and Davis KT (Kinetic Transfer) platform when I perform with Jools Holland, which is a good 3 inches high, and the end pin has to rest in the floor, not on the platform. So, as you can imagine, I need that extension on the original end pin. Hope all this helps, and clears things up! 😉 Quote
