Tinman Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 The guitarist in my last band does a similar thing with his SG (not quite as violently though) I must admit to being slightly peturbed by that video. Quote
KevB Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 I remember this coming up back in the old bassworld forum. The guy's a bafoon. Quote
MB1 Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 MB1. This is each to there own really, every time i put a set of strings on a bass weather new or just replacing them after cleaning a fingerboard ,i put them on tune them up, stretch them, tune them up ,stretch them and tune them up ,until theyre stable.I really dont think you need to be this aggresive ,but it is important to stretch the string so the tuning becomes stable.Just putting a set of strings on without stretching youll find they soon go out of tune.Use a tuner though!!!!much more accurate. If his strings go out of tune that much without a gentle stretch then he needs new strings, a new tuner or a kicking. Quote
markdavid Posted July 13, 2007 Author Posted July 13, 2007 I would hate to see someone try this with heavy gauge strings or the rotosound rs77 monel flats , ouch Quote

guitarnbass Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 that's pretty much what I do with new strings, don't see the harm really, my bass doesn't go out of tune.. Quote
