LayDownThaFunk
One Direction are overpriced but they did alright. Badge sells the bass, not the actual instrument.
Grangur
Bc Fender buyers like overpriced basses?
I never mentioned price. I'm not saying Fenders at any level are over priced. A big contribution Fender has done for contemporary music is they brought instruments to the masses. By doing for instruments what Henry Ford did for cars, instruments have become affordable and so came into the hands of school kids. Fender has given the world and easy method for making a guitar, that is being followed by countless copyists all over the world. It's thanks to Leo that you can buy a great payable bass from Gear4Music for less than £100. Ok, that may not make great commercial sense, but would Gear4Music have got there with Fender showing the way?
NancyJohnson
IME all basses sound essentially the same in a given style of music once they have been tweaked to sit properly in the mix.
Pretty succinct. To add; we all kind of know what we want to sound like and we'll do whatever is necessary to achieve that. Price point has little to do with it.
