tauzero Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Sometimes it's what the song needs, sometimes it's what I think the song requires. The song is in no position to dictate. I generally play a reasonable approximation of the original, except when we're playing a song which has been covered by loads of people so we're taking the bits we like, when I get rather busy. Quote
WalMan Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 (edited) Depends which band I'm playing with: the classic rock band, the prog rock band or the laid back originals band. Normally manage not to mix them up Edited October 15, 2016 by WalMan Quote
Rich Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Fumbling twathood. 😕 Seriously though... I'd say groove-driven. Pocket rather than flash. I'd rather drive the bus than jump over it on a motorbike. Quote

lefrash Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Solid. I take that as a compliment but probably not the most exciting descriptions! Quote
steve-bbb Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016
A friend recently told me that he'd asked our (very good) lead guitarist what I was actually like as a bass player as he thought the band anyways sounded good but he didn't really know what to listen for as far as bass goes (basically a typical pub punter). I actually thought our guitarist's response was really quite complimentary. He said that I'm "a very natural player". I'll take that quite happily
asking a guitarist to comment on a bassist? isnt that a bit like asking a fish about poetry? Quote
bigsmokebass Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 jazz styled basses, rock amps with jazz eq, playing rock/hard rock/stoner rock XD Quote
