FMartinez
Hi guys! I have an active 1998 Fender precision American deluxe bass with no passive option and I want to have that feature. Anyone knows a way to do it? My technician says that it can be done but without a passive tone control and it doesn't convince me. Maybe changing the preamp will solve my problem? Please help! fretmeister
There are many preamps with passive options. Some have a passive tone control and some don't. The East ones do, and I think the Sadowsky ones do. There must be others. The Sandberg basses have that too but I'm not sure what preamp is in them. ikay
This may help, see schematic part way down the page - https://www.talkbass.com/threads/fender-jazz-deluxe-push-pull-preamp-bypass.217603/
JTUK
I swapped out my Fender pre to get a passive option...I believe the newer ones have it, but older ones like I had don't...?? Anyway, I was never convinced by the Fender pre...I regard it as agricultural, so I had a glock put in and that is a big step up in quality. However this was for a Jazz config, but I assume you have a jazz pickup so this would be the way to go, IMO.
