markstuk
Stumbled across these - http://hoovi.at/deef...oducts/?lang=en - I can sort of see how it would work for a floor mounted 12" guitar combo, but for bass - especially low frequencies with wavelengths > 5 ft (200 hz and down) it's hard to see how it would help Thoughts? ColinB
What's wrong with a piece of gaffa tape stuck to the grill cloth in front of the dust cap? That's what I used for years in my guitaring days. Worked a treat to stop the on-axis beaming.
Bill Fitzmaurice
Just use a well designed cab that doesn't beam and you won't need one. That's pretty much impossible with guitar, as any twelve is going to beam the highs, but not so difficult with bass.
Beer of the Bass
Other than being optimistically priced, is the concept a sound one for guitar use? And do the shaped bits and cutouts do much that a simple angled perspex screen wouldn't?

mikel
I am fairly easy to blind with science and that blurb did it after about three paragraphs. If something needs that much explaining I dont see what it can actually do.
fretmeister
The Mitchell Donut is far cheaper and works on guitar amps. £5 of foam and scissors.

A simple vertical slat in front of the cone would work, as would a donut. But a foam donut wouldn't work all that well, as too much sound would pass right through it. I'd use plywood. Both work on the principle of diffraction, explained here in section 1-5. http://www.jblpro.com/pub/manuals/pssdm_1.pdf
