ezbass Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 It appears that there is a petition to stop folks moving into areas adjacent to known music venues and then complaining about the noise until the venue is closed down, depriving both venue workers and bands of employment. As the MU say, "Keep music live." https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/168135 Quote
Johnny Wishbone Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Signed. Seen too many good places close down because of this. Quote
Dan Dare Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Yes. They get the place cheap because it's next to a music venue, then try to get the venue closed so as to make a killing on the property price. Some a'hole tried this in the case of a well know North London traditional music venue I frequent. He didn't get far. Quote
TheGreek Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 (edited) also done....and sent out to all the musicians on my contacts list Edited October 6, 2016 by TheGreek Quote

lowhand_mike Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 signed, theres new flats being put up right behind a well known music pub near me so this is very relevant Quote
redbandit599 Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 (edited) Signed and shared - get this everywhere. One venue out my way has been going for over 20 years and is getting hassle not from a new neighbour, but a developer who has done up a nearby house and thinks he can up the price without a music pub nearby.. arsehole... JapanAxe Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Signed. IIRC there was a change in planning policy to do with this. Quote
Thunderbird Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 signed Quote
TheGreek Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Sent to my local venue too...if the pub users sign the petition it may add some weight... Quote
Lozz196 Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Sorted. A venue I play every now & then in Milton Keynes have had a Sikh temple move nearby which is trying to get the venue shut down. Many roads/estates in MK they could have moved to but no, has to be next to a music venue then complain about the noise. Quote
