Clarky72 Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 It's not a bass, so apologies for posting such indecencies, but wow, what a finish! Quote
bertbass Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Sorry, but it looks like my ink stained desk top from school. Quote
Huge Hands Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 That looks like the mould on my kitchen ceiling after the bathroom sink leaked..... Quote
NJE Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 I saw this guitar on Instagram and really liked the idea behind it, if recall correctly even the guy that builds them wasn't sure how it would work out. There are a lot of smaller companies making Metal/Djent style guitars (I am sure they do other guitars but I am generalising) with some incredible finishes at the moment. Mayones/Daemoness/Skervesen/Ormsby are all producing fantastic looking pointy 6/7/8 string guitars with amaing burst and colour combinations. Its a shame none of them make a decent looking bass (apart form Mayones) with some of the finishes. This is one of the best finishes I have ever seen, it looks like the photos they take of galaxies and nebulas in deep space.... Quote
Happy Jack Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016
It's not a bass, so apologies for posting such indecencies, but wow, what a finish!
Quite apart from the extreme split in opinion this finish has attracted (me, I'm with the "never in a million years" brigade), I would also struggle with explaining to punters at gigs that it was called Cytherea Black Splatters. I always thought that was a nasty STD ... EliasMooseblaster Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Hasn't this style been done before? I believe I know somebody who owns an Ibanez guitar with a similar design, but in blood-red on a white background. Designed, one might argue, to resemble spattered blood. Quote
Oopsdabassist Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Interesting concept, I would like to see some other examples though, that particular one, is not quite 'it' for me. Quote
pmjos Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 The only two words I can muster are explosive and diarrhoea Quote
Grahambythesea Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 Frankly, yuck. Even the wood on the back looks like apiece of an old shed. The front finish looks like the spray gun ran out of paint at a crucial moment. Quote
zonular Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 I quite like it, reminds me of the Ibanez rg321mh although with a stripped finish, sorta like mine when I got lazy with sanding Quote
Graham Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 I like it, kinda reminds me of the sleeve from Converge's Jane Doe record Quote
Painy Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016
Even the wood on the back looks like apiece of an old shed.
I was thinking an old picnic bench personally but generally I'm with you here. Quote
