I'm totally unaware of the bassists on these brilliant records. Love the bass line in Barbarism begins at home. Jonny Marr said that the queen is dead album wouldn't have been possible without the bassists contribution. BrunoBass Posted October 7, 2016 Share Posted October 7, 2016 I have a lot of respect for Andy Rourke's bass playing. Whilst personally I wasn't a fan of his tone he played some interesting stuff. The isolated bass line of This Charming Man is worth checking out on You Tube. I was lucky enough to see The Smiths twice (1984 and 1986) and both times I was impressed by how tight Andy and Mike Joyce the drummer were. Amazing songs too... Any idea what bass(es) he was playing on those sessions? His tone on [i]Frankly Mr Shankly [/i]and [i]Cemetery Gates[/i] is wonderful. Certainly not enough to justify what they were awarded in their court case, which Mozza is still quite bitter about going by his comments about the judge in his autobiography.
