gypsyjazzer
Question for acoustic fretless bass guitar players: What do you consider the best full bodied acoustic fretless bass guitar on the market?--in terms of pickup / workmanship / playability quality? Your experiences welcome. Many thanks. Edited October 18, 2016 by gypsyjazzer
yorks5stringer
I had a Godin A5 fretted but have heard good things about the fretless cousin.......no feedback and well made, played like butter!
GuyR
I have an A5 fretless - It's easy to play and sounds much better than the mid-range price would suggest. I'd swap it for a Rick Turner renaissance bass any day. Or, following my usual pattern, find a spurious justification for keeping both. tom5string
Mornin, once in a shop I played a Magnus Krempel Aku-Bass 5-string. That was the only "WOW!" I ever experienced with acoustic basses: http://magnusguitars.de/akustik-baesse/ (sorry, site is German only ...) Unfortunately way beyond my budget. fretlessguy
I use a Carvin AC 40 Fretless. it's construction is similar to the Godin in that it is a thin-bodied bass which helps prevent feedback. Very lightweight and can be purchased with a variety of options. Its sound can be best described as a combination of upright bass and fretless bass guitar.
