weird bass effects...?

Can anyone help me? Im trying to find a bass effects unit which can replicate a 'pan pipe' or 'woodwind' sound. I use synths but cant even get close... any ideas?

Hmmm... you may be able to approximate the envelope (attack, sustain etc.) using major compression. However, if you're really looking for a change to the fundamental waveform, no conventional effect is going to do it, in my opinion. Could something like a Roland VG-88 do it?

Some sort of slow gear pedal (or volume pedal) to swell the note and take the attack off the front end of the note is probably a good call...
