Drummer woes redux

So we gave our drummer the Spanish archer and now his replacement has bailed out due to stress and depression.

We're in a bit of a mess...two gigs in November (Phoenix, High Wycombe and Fighting Cocks, Kingston); need a dep. Anyone care to loan us their drummer for a couple of weekends?

Punky rocky. Easy material. 45 minute set.

When I'm evaluating candidates at auditions, I observe everything from the car he arrives in, how he travels with gear, his interpersonal skills, experience,dress along with other stuff.

I can usually spot drpression, alcohol and drug problems. Unfortunately I'm not so good at spotting arse holes and have been fooled more than once.

And here's a big one that most are afraid to ask;

"Be honest, Hoe does your wife feel about you bein out working on Friday & Saturday nights?"

It's a paying job, do you really have to.

I've known the guy for seven or eight years; we gigged several times with his old band, he depped with us a few years back, plays on another project I'm involved in and jumped at the opportunity to do this with me. We are friends, our wives likes each other etc.

It's easy to say I can vouch for his character, but in this case there's just stuff going on outside of music.

A couple of years before i atarted playing bass my brother took up the drums and started learning his paradiddles. I have been very lucky as my drummer is family and he his very good having had lessons with 3 or 4 different tutors in all styles. I have to say that if for any reason he packed up playing (he suffers from sciatica) then i would very likely pack in playing live too. I hope you manage to find someone and if they're decent you keep hold of them. Good luck in the search.
