skidder652003 Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 oooeeer missus! Actually at last rehersal we have managed to shoe-horn in The Tramps Disco Inferno as an introduction to Sabbaths NIB, just wondering what other unusual mashups people are "slipping in"? Quote
Monkey Steve Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 Punk covers band (me playing guitar) 1. Bass intro to Walk On The Wild Side in to Jilted John; 2. We always ended gigs with (You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party) and much to the disgust of the punk crowds we'd end it with the main riff from Smoke On The Water Quote
Les Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 The Good the Bad and the Ugly into Toxic by Britney Quote
TrevorR Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 We used to do The Joker by Steve Miller and slip in a touch of Don't Fear The Reaper. A chum of mine used to play organ at a church I went to and would improvise around a classical piece for the collection. After the service when we were having coffee I would be challenged to identify the "classic" on which his variation might be based... "Money makes the world go round", "Money, Money, Money", "Ain't too proud to beg", "Money" (Pink Floyd or Flying Lizards versions), "Ain't nothin going on but the rent"... convinced no one else in the congregation sussed. Trueno Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 We also had a church organist as a keyboard player. Sometimes we would play Johnny B Goode in the encore. He would slip in some JS Bach in a solo. Quote
Graham Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 In the chorus after the middle 8 in Counting Stars by One Republic we normally (audience dependent) go into The Bad Touch by The Bloodhound Gang for 16 bars, sits nicely and normally raises a smile Quote
tom skool Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 The into of Tom pettys American girl in the intro of the strokes' last nite. I used to sing talking heads' road to nowhere' over ' in the morning' by razorlight. Quote
deepbass5 Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Mission impossible into Green Onions upsets a few people Quote
joeystrange Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 In one of my old bands we wrote a happy, bouncy pop song. We would sometimes play the intro to For Whom The Bell Tolls then go into our song. Then back to For Whom The Bell Tolls for the middle part. Then back into our pop song for the last chorus. We also did similar with Raining Blood. We just liked to annoy the metal heads. Quote
Raslee Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016
Mission impossible into Green Onions upsets a few people
Ha, we did Mission Impossible into Play that funky music Another odd one was Express yourself into a bit of Chameleon into Spooky Quote
ROConnell Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 A Royal Blood-esque version of Come Together. If you think about that bass riff, with some nasty fuzz on top and a huge drum sound, that's what it is. Quote
Japhet Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Used to do the intro to Brown Eyed Girl (audience would groan) but then straight into Lip Up Fatty. Crowd pleaser - don't know why we stopped doing it. Quote
Painy Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 (edited) When we're playing the big atmospheric into to Another Brick In The Wall, our singer will often start singing the beginning of Bootylicious by Destiny's Child (the "Beyonce, can you handle this" etc. bit) but substituting in the names of our band's members. Normally raises a smile . Edited October 29, 2016 by Painy Quote
Freddy Le Cragg Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 I do the words to Turtle Power to the chords of I will Survive at solo acoustic gigs if that counts? Quote
Panamonte Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Our Zeppelin medley of Heartbreaker/Whole Lotta Love makes a handbrake turn into Gay Bar. Goes down well with the punters. Quote
scalpy Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Had great fun doing Grease. The guitarists and I had a running bet on how many Zep quotes we could fit in. Guitar 1 took the prize when he opened his solo in Grease Lightening on the final night with a perfectly executed Black Dog riff. Quote
Vinny Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 'Bring on the shameless plug' you say? Oh, alright then. http://soundcloud.com/vince-peters/double-vision-stand-by-every-breath-you-take Quote
Woodinblack Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 (edited) We have just started a cover of the Prodigy's voodoo people with a ska breakdown section in the middle Edited October 29, 2016 by Woodinblack Quote

lefrash Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 My band from school (so 19 years ago) stuck in the solo section from the dream theater tune 'under a glass moon' into 'message in a bottle'. Mainly because the drummer and guitarist could play it! 😂 would love to hear that again. Quote
RhysP Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 I was in an originals band once where I used to play the theme from Steptoe & Son as the intro to one of their songs. Quote
Mudpup Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016
Ha, we did Mission Impossible into Play that funky music Another odd one was Express yourself into a bit of Chameleon into Spooky
And we have Mission Impossible (or actually a chunk of Take a Look Around by Limp Bizkit...) into Word Up as the second set opener Quote
darkandrew Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 We used to do Daydream Believer into Teen Spirit. Quote
colleya Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Hungry Like The Wolf into Danger Zone and back again. Takes folk a few seconds but worth it for the grins. Quote
Hobbayne Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 We somehow manage to segue Smoke On The Water into Rappers Delight Quote
