Came across one of these for sale yesterday, passed on it because I was unfamiliar with the model, but it seems a pretty rare oddball.
Can only find one other for sale and that's in Japan. Am I mistaken in its rarity, and indeed are they any good?

Thanks

Thanks for the info Mr Meddle. The one I looked at appeared to be active as it had what looked like a battery compartment on the reverse across the middle, I remember that it had Ibanez branded pickups and three controls. I couldn't see a S/N anywhere on it.
I have a couple of Hohner B2a's, a fretted and fretless which I love dearly, but what drew me to the Axstar is the fact it had a top horn, which must be an advantage over the Hohner in giving a more conventional playing position. The zero fret on the Hohner seems a mile away until you get used to it. Also, whilst I didn't have the opportunity to test them side by side for weight, it seemed to me that the Ibanez was noticeably lighter.
