eubassix
http://www.ebay.de/itm/James-Tyler-4-String-Bass-/172394736477?hash=item282386eb5d:g:F~EAAOSw8oFXx1ve ... don't see many of these Tyler basses which had a great reputation when they were around. This one seems to have been sold on BC back in 2010 (... and appears to have the same strings fitted?!!) :_ http://basschat.co.uk/topic/68518-soldjames-tyler-bass-for-sale-uk-raresold/page__p__724144__hl__tyler__fromsearch__1#entry724144
LZD56
Yep that was mine. The price has gone up a few quid! Wonder if they are the same strings I had on it? Funny thing - when I was selling it I took it along to Mark at Bass Direct. I was amazed when he said "never heard of them." Haven't held it against him though! 😂
AndyTravis
Always fascinated by these. Ugliest headstock ever. But, I would.
LZD56
Agreed Andy. Real 'marmite' stuff, but I love marmite 😉 Lovely bass tho', lightweight & the Demeter pre-amp produced some kubicki type tones. Very 'zingy' top end.
Not a chance! You would have to go a long way to beat this for an ugly headstock: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/294441-laurus-t900xr-5-fretless-lined/
In with a shout but Lindert would have it with one arm tied behind its back: That Laurus flappy paddle is a great way to ruin an otherwise awesome-looking bass - but I'm not sure it's really a headstock... eubassix
Yep that was mine. The price has gone up a few quid! Haven't held it against him though!
I think they are the same strings (!) .. apparently, if you don't play the bass then they'll be fine (?!!). This was his reply to my specific (strings) Q:- "....yes, bought it but never played it, so i am selling it! are you interested in buying a bass or why are you contacting me again?...." previous contact was about one (of 2) of his Celinders listed (also listed a Modulus VJ4 as 'NEW'), as I didn't think any NEW basses were currently available from Cristian C.:- "... i am selling some of my private basses. i bought some basses new from shops but didn't play them, they stayed in their cases a few years, that's why they are sold as "NEW" - because they are new ...." Certainly looks a goood 'investment' if it does sell at the asking price; but he's listed the 4 basses several times already. Not totally surprised re BassDir ... have found most shops' bass 'specialists' have a pretty limited knowledge of less well known instruments
warwickhunt
I like esoteric basses and at the former BC sale price I'd have been interested in that Tyler but not at 100%(+) the original sale price... oh and the strings would be in the bin pretty quickly, even if just for the colour!
