bubinga5 Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 I think this record is superb. I'm not familiar with Keane,s stuff. I think he's got a fabulous voice for pop rock etc. http://youtu.be/W8W8IBS2fVg Quote
ribbetingfrog Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 I wasn't expecting to like that, but genuinely did! He has a great voice true enough. Quote
Cato Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 (edited)
I think this record is superb. I'm not familiar with Keane,s stuff.
Sounds a lot like that. Not my thing, but in fairness the original 'Somewhere only we know' was about a million time better than that horrible Lilly Allen Christmas advert effort a few years ago. RhysP Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 I've not heard much Keane stuff but I remember seeing them on TV at some huge concert (maybe Live 8?) & thinking they were bloody great live. Quote
cameltoe Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 They've been hammering this on radio 2. It's a great song, but I don't know if the nod towards Ordinary World about 1:30 in is intentional? He was the main songwriter in Keane unless I'm mistaken, who wrote some great songs. He's a talented bloke alright. http://youtu.be/JugGmkvhsKQ Quote
chris_b Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 I believe the keyboard player writes the songs, but they are all credited so they share the royalties. Very generous of him. Quote
Barking Spiders Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 Cripes. Never could stand Keane but this ain't half bad at all, certainly way better than anything else I've heard from the mainstream/chartland this year Quote

Very generous of him.
I am mistaken then. Tim Rice-Oxley is a talented bloke. I once heard that the Drummer was the main songwriter in Kaiser Chiefs and the reason their popularity dwindled so quickly is because he left the band. I'm too lazy to google and tbh I don't care enough. They seemed a one album wonder from my perspective anyhow. Quote

Stu-khag Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 I've had an absolute tonne of emails from his record company in the past few weeks. They are putting in the hours in the promo dept. I'll be honest, I saw his name and thought nope, I'm not having any of that. (in a noel gallagher voice). Should give him a chance really! Quote
AndyTravis Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Yeah. Like it. Keane are a guilty pleasure. Quote
