bubinga5
Ok. I love 4/4 as do many,I love 3/4 also. of course there are many ways you can play around these beats, taste permitting in a band situation of course. but my favourite by far is 6/8 time. There is something about this particular drum beat that just sets my playing off. http://youtu.be/HiGETAHJG7U
visog
Well Don Ellis was Live in 3&2/3 over 4 time back in 1967. But no I'm a 4/4 person. Edited November 2, 2016 by visog

paul_5
I'm with Sausage, but given a choice between the two I'd plump for 5/4 every time

Mykesbass
Not over keen on 3/4 but love the way the drummer accents this - really transforms the feel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-z28gt8wBNo
RhysP
7/8. I'm also partial to a nice 3/4.
Twigman
6/8 by far....I naturally seem to count in 3s...
mikel
I honestly dont know. I tend to have favorite songs and its only after I learn to play them someone will say "Oh, thats in 13/8 time you know". I do like 5/4 though.

FuNkShUi
4/4 is my favorite. If we are looking for something other than the obvious though, i'd go with 7/
fleabag
As kev B stated - love a bit of Living in the Past Also, this is a killer, with brilliant double bassister Danny Thompson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9gCN9-Jnfg

chris_b
I have an Archie Shepp album which doesn't appear to employ any time signatures. I played with John Mealing in the 70's just after he left the band If. They used to specialise in odd and complicated time signatures. I asked him how he remembered the count. He said he didn't count anything. You get a rhythmic pattern in your head and follow that. No favourites for me, just depends on the song. ras52
I'm very partial to a slow 3/2 - or 4/4 alternating with 2/4, or 2/4 in three-bar phrases, however you want to cut it! http://youtu.be/juPZ-oJBd10
bluesparky
6/8 Love the way it rolls along. It can be perfect for a ballad or rocking out. I also love the fact this is a genuine question / thead!
GarethFlatlands
3/4, seems nice and punchy and when I was in a fastish band, it was what I naturally ended up writing in most of the time. I love what other people do with 5/4 but I struggle with writing anything in it.
