This could develop into a deeper discussion about how jazz went so far forwards and then took a time machine backwards to a time when players only played show tunes. I'll get my coat and my white flares and see you all next week.

There's a section where a couple of players talk about how jazz stagnated for a while as the younger generation were reluctant to offend their older peers by accepting more modern Influences into their music.

I'm very new at this Jazz thing but it seems to me that with artists like Snarky Puppy, Kamasi Washington & Robert Glasper the modern jazz scene is healthier & more progressive than it has been in years, and that's without counting all the Jazz/hip hop/dance music crossover stuff.
