Guest leebass69
I've a query- I really need a wide strap that won't budge at all, I play pretty aggressively and my (perfectly normal) strap changes length bit my bit..arghhhh!!! I've tried to find a company who makes thick belts of some kind that I could potentially cut to size but no luck. Similarly to Sheehan's thoughts the bass should reliably be in the same position no matter what so any help pointing me in a direction would be much appreciated. Cheers everyone, Lee
Protium
What are you using, a teflon strap? Levy's are pretty good, I've never had any trouble with them before but I duno if they do wide ones.

I'm usind a decent enough 3(ish) inch adjustable strap at the moment and as I say, it's ok but I do quite a lot of neck bends and generally I'm quite rough...... I play an Attitude 2 and I'm a big Sheehan fan, maybe I've listened to Eat Em And Smile too many times??
bass_ferret
Straps that are adjusted by re-threading the thin bit through holes in the big bit wont move. Straps with buckle pins wont move. Dont know what you are using?

bass_ferret
Not being funny but you are talking sh*t. If you are saying you need to adjust something like this every two hours? Protium
IME even the most basic Levy's straps would take a proper tug in the right direction for them to move like that, duno how you're playing your bass mate

Maybe I'll just get another 1 as mine does slacken off bit by bit after repeated pushing against it bending the neck etc.. Cheers

Cheers
Well I hope you are getting paid enough for 3+ hour sets - in which case you can afford a new strap for each set. Either that or find a custom leatherworker to make a really thick strap with no adjustment. Just dont pull the strap pins out with all that bending. bass_ferret
I still say a threaded strap; like what I posted a link to; wont slip. It might stretch but it wont slip. Still waiting to find out if the OP is playing 3 hour sets or doing 3 hours of extreme neck bending in the comfort of his bedroom. If the latter he should go to the gym instead
ezbass
The slap strap is the business http://www.slapring.com/en/shop/productinfo/slapstrap.php . You just sandwich the adjustable part between the velcro end and voila solid as a rock and then some, they're real wide too. They are alas expensive £90 ($150). But I've got 3 that I used to have for monster heavy 'Rays that I'm willing to offload, say £25 each plus postage. PM me if interested. Yeah I know unsolicited selling, but I'm OK with it. I'd e-mailed Italia already so if they can help me out great, if not then I'll take you up on your offer, clicked on the link and they look solid-if a strap can be solid

Gerald who runs the company is a real nice guy. I'm surprised the strap hasn't caught on more, no magazine reviews I guess. The huge range of adjustability looks good as well, so as you get fatter and older the strap can get longer. I found one of my old straps from when I was young, slim and had my bass tucked under my chin, I struggled to get the bass on Edited October 24, 2008 by bass_ferret
