wateroftyne
It is a good resource that is very underused. Would probably be more use to people looking for a band if it good be divided into areas like North West,South East etc. Would that be a lot of work to do bluejay ?
Just clearly state the general location in the thread name when you post in the gigs forum. IMO, there's no point subdividing it into regions. We have too many subforums on BC as it is. And the reason it's underused on BC is that there are already a million - better placed - platforms out there for this kind of resource. Facebook, Twitter, local gig guides... landwomble
Seven Miles Out in Stockport on Friday night. It's free, it's kids friendly and it's our night. 3 bands and decent beer...
At least if you post here, your post will be seen by anyone who goes to the relevant forum, as opposed to your post being a victim of a mysterious algorythm that shows it only to a small, random percentage of your followers unless you pay for promotion. Facebook and Twitter have had their day. Local gig guides are rarely up to date, unless you mean walking to a pub on the day and reading the boards outside it. There is a strong argument for Basschatters to post their gigs on here, in the Gigs forum. However, its presence needs to be more widely known. Those who follow Basschat on Twitter will know that I bang on about the Gigs forum almost every weekend, but as I said, Twitter as a useful platform is pretty much over, so more effort is needed on here. So, let's have a bump! http://basschat.co.uk/forum/11-gigs/

If you post it on your personal page, far more of your friends will see it. FB and Twitter are still the main social tools in any band's armoury. You just have to know how to do it right. Silvia Bluejay
If you want Basschatters to know about your gig, and they're not among your friends, then FB is absolutely pointless. No amount of doing it right will change the algorythm - even on personal profiles, a person's post will not be seen by all their friends unless they have less than 100 or so.* *Probably should have said 'unless the numbers of friends involved on both the poster's and the receiver's side is low' Edited November 15, 2016 by bluejay
wateroftyne
Just have 'em all in one gigs forum, and put the location in the title. Job done.
Silvia Bluejay
Yup, that's how it's currently done. Hopefully this thread will have reminded Basschatters of the Gigs forum's existence.
