bubinga5 Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 (edited) Some just amazing groove bass playing on this classic Gil Scott Heron track, from the man on a P Bass. Meshell picks up a P bass at the end too.! http://youtu.be/xtPVoV7moMU Edited November 9, 2016 by bubinga5 Quote
krismpos Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Always loved this video. Especially at the end when it looks they're gonna trade some licks but in fact they accompany each other to a smooth fade out. Quote
Cato Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 (edited) Awesome playing from Pino. From 80s pop to the Who to Neosoul and straight out Hip Hop, it's difficult to think of another bass player who's crossed genres the way he has. Meshell's pretty special too. mentalextra Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Fabulous Pino, as usual. Interesting, with what other musical genres is it acceptable to sit while playing? Quote

wombatboter Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 I'm a huge Pino fan but I've lost track of him since he picked up that Precision... He had a distinctive voice on his fretless but on a fretted bass it's a different thing.... He's perhaps the "best"bass player on the planet imo but Pino will always be fretless to me.... I tried D'Angelo etc but it sounds like a totally different player to me but one I'm not that fond of...sorry Quote
ezbass Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Pino and Manu Katche´ together; a rhythm section to die for. Quote
acidbass Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Drumming far too busy for me, Pino definitely more restrained as a result IMO. Quote
Owen Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Imagine having a really classy late night music show with creativity and stuff. Quote
Winny Pooh Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 Great for all the obvious reasons and the drumming! Quote
