dudi8 Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 I'm thinking between GK mb800, Markbass LM800, Aguilar TH500, or any other recommendation I'm playing both double bass and Electric bass, but mainly electric im playing through a barefaced super midget cab Thanks! Quote
xgsjx Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Try them all & get the one you like the best. My preference would be the Markbass, but that's because I had an LMII & loved the sound. I'd probably be equally as happy with any of those amps. Quote
Lozz196 Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Given the use of both electric and DB I`d probably look at the Markbass. Quote
karlfer Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Don't forget TecAmp or Eich. Both seem popular with folk who use both types of instrument. Quote

karlfer Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Isn't it strange how we find different things, part of the adventure I think. Reason I make this comment, ome of the embarrassingly many set ups I've used was a PUMA 900 through Barefaced S12 with Fender P/J and the way I had it set up was amazingly punchy. An accident I got such a good sound believe me. A change in band lead me to theoretically needing a more smooth vintage sound. Quote
Dood Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Definitely try out the TC Electronic BH800 to add to the list, but for Double Bass as well? The Bergantino B|Amp probably trumps the lot for feature set. Quote
artisan Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 For double bass I really like my GK MB800 Fusion through a Barefaced big baby 2. Sounds brilliant Quote
Jazzjames Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 I don't like the Markbass heads for double bass. I find that the adjustable EQ on the Tonehammer is super for controlling frequencies that can provoke feedback. But every double bass, every pickup, every cab etc. is different. I really enjoy the sound of it with electric too. I haven't tried the GK. I own the Tonehammer and I can say that it has proven to be entirely reliable and easy to use. If it were stolen, I would buy another one, no question. The best thing you can do is try them all and see which one suits you. Quote
