AdamWoodBass Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Man this sucks, RIP Victor Bailey. Quote
visog Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Shame - nice guy... great bass player and lets not forget... had the toughest job in the business replacing Jaco in Weather Report. Quote
spencer.b Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Sad news , for me one of the heavyweights. Some of the so called bass virtuosos are just wiggling the fingers really fast but victor was the real deal Just listening to Db waltz from weather reports domino theory and kid logic from his first solo album, brilliant RIP Quote
jazzyvee Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 I'm gutted he was a giant talent and such a shame that he has gone. Quote

SisterAbdullahX Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Not totally unexpected but still very sad news. For me one of the finest bass players there's ever been. Nobody sounded like Victor. Quote
timmo Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Sad news. It even gets worse with the passing today of Robert Vaughan ( Man From Uncle ) Quote
bluesparky Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Sad news, me and 2016 need to have words... Quote
Bilbo Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Bailey was important to me. As a young rocker, I was already investigating fusion and some of the more exceptional players like Jaco and Jeff Berlin when I saw a video of Weather Report's Domino Theory tour. I was watching VB and noticed that he was moving around the neck a lot and there was one point where he played something low down and the jumped up to the top of the neck to play fill before going back to the low end. I vividly recall saying to the drummer friend I was watching the video with 'I need to know where the notes are so I can do that'. And so began my exploration of theory, reading etc. So, arguably, Bailey inspired me to learn. It doesn't seem much now but it was an epiphany for one of Cwmbran's leading exponents of HM bass.... Doom doom doom doom.... Quote

Always struck me as such a nice bloke as well, very sad. Quote
